Board of Trustees of the Las Médulas Foundation

The Las Médulas Foundation is led by a Board of Trustees which, as the governing, administrative and management body, has the objective of fulfilling the mission, vision and values of the Cultural and Natural Space of Las Medulas.

The Board of Trustees is currently chaired by the Regional Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Sport of the Castilla y León Regional Government, a role held by councillor Gonzalo Santonja Gómez. The Board of Trustees of the Las Médulas Foundation includes representatives of the Castilla y León Regional Government, the Provincial Council and the Regional Council of El Bierzo. The villages of Carucedo, Priaranza del Bierzo and Puente de Domingo Flórez also form part of the Board of Trustees, as well as representatives of the University of León. In addition to these public sector trustees, there are other private sector patrons such as the Instituto de Estudios Bercianos.

This governing body of the Las Médulas Foundation changes periodically every four years. Its members perform their duties free of charge and do not receive any direct or indirect remuneration for said duties.

The Board of Trustees undertakes the actions in the Cultural and Natural Space of Las Medulas through the development of Strategic Plans. These are approved for implementation over periods of several years and rolled out in the area under the coordination of the Las Médulas Foundation.

The El Bierzo journalist Luis del Olmo is an Honorary Trustee for his work as chairman of the Las Médulas Foundation until 2012.
