Located in the village of Priaranza del Bierzo, Cornatel Castle is 16.7 kilometres outside of Ponferrada and 12 kilometres away from the village of Las Médulas. It has a parking area, guided tours and astro-tourism activities.

Las Médulas Archaeological Learning Centre
In the village of Las Médulas, the Archaeological Learning Centre opens its doors to offer an excellent educational installation explaining the evolution from the pre-Roman landscape to the Roman one, as well as the social context that accompanied this historical process. It also explains the technical specialisation in the trades and use of the natural resources of its inhabitants so that mining in Las Médulas prospered.

individual €2, groups (over 15 people) €1.5 per person. Seniors over 65 years old €1.5 and children (up to 8 years old) free. Guided tours cost from €40 to €150 depending on the route chosen and the group of participants.
Useful insights
The Learning Centre also provides an understanding of the way of life of the Astures who originally inhabited Las Médulas when the Romans arrived, their way of living and exploiting the natural and mineral resources of the area and how they were subdued by the colonisation of the Roman Empire.
This is a didactic enclave where you can learn to identify the different working areas of gold mining at Las Médulas (hydraulic system, galleries, evacuation channels, lakes, etc.) and their importance for the extractive activity that made it the largest open-pit gold mine in the Roman Empire.
Casa del Parque de Carucedo
In the village of Carucedo, the Casa del Parque, located near the lake, offers an overview and a dizzying immersion in the capacity of human beings to transform the environment.

There is nothing better than seeing how the mountains of Las Médulas were modified when you see the ramp at the entrance. It shows with image and sound the transformations that Las Médulas underwent due to human action to reach the beautiful landscape that its topography reveals today.
The museum space, which is accessible to all visitors, adds an exhibition of the trades that have traditionally been linked to the territory, such as agriculture, chestnut growing and vineyards, through a display of the ethnographic heritage of Las Médulas and its cultural evolution as life has changed over time.
Visitor Reception Centre
The Visitor Reception Centre, located in the village of Las Médulas, is an essential visit at the beginning of a trip to the Cultural Space. Its panels explain to the newcomer what awaits further along the tour and experienced staff members are happy to offer the visitor the many cultural resources available and suggest the different routes to visit them.

The Visitor Reception Centre has access for people with reduced mobility and has panels with information written in Braille so that no one is left without knowing the extraordinary history that makes Las Médulas such an attractive place worldwide.
